Most traditional programs suggest waiting until a child is five or six years old to pick up a racket. We look at early development a bit differently. Fundamental balance, basic coordination, and tracking movement can start much earlier.
> "My own daughter began spending time out on the court with me when she was just five months old. It wasn't about teaching rules or strategy — it was about exploring balance, rolling tennis balls, and getting comfortable with physical movement."
Exposing toddlers to active play early on gives them a massive head start in gross motor skills. Our Preschooler program uses this exact template to build confidence before kids move into primary school sports.
The Tennis Parent Guide
Start with rolling and catching, then progress to tracking a bouncing ball, then to contact with an oversized racket face. Skill follows exposure — not age.
